Your water is doing this
whether you watch it or not
The City of Alamogordo's own water quality report puts hardness at 652 milligrams per litre — about 38 grains per gallon. The US Geological Survey classes anything above 10.5 grains as "very hard." Alamogordo is three and a half times past that line, and the City says so itself.
The water is safe to drink. That was never the issue. The issue is scale — in the bottom of your water heater, in the cartridge of your shower valve, in the dishwasher, in the coffee maker. Half the houses in this town were built before 1980 and have been running that water ever since.

Our flyer says 24-hour service and our weekend hours are listed as always open. Call the number and you'll get a real person — if it's the middle of the night and water is going somewhere it shouldn't, that's exactly the call to make.
Are you licensed?+
Yes. Bourboun Plumbing, LLC holds New Mexico Construction Industries Division licence #388571. New Mexico law doesn't let a homeowner or a handyman do permitted plumbing work — the person doing it has to be licensed for it.

Why does my water heater keep failing?+
Probably the water. Alamogordo runs about 38 grains of hardness per gallon — the USGS calls anything over 10.5 'very hard'. Scale settles in the bottom of a tank and cooks. Flushing helps; a softener helps more.
